Obituary

Chris was born in Colorado Springs, CO in 1950.  His family moved to Broomfield, CO where he graduated from Broomfield High School.  In 1971, he moved to Steamboat Springs and got gainful employment and a place to rent in Milner.  Rent was $25, and his season pass at the ski area was $100.  Chris lived in Milner for 29 years in his cozy home surrounded by good neighbors.  He was the self-appointed Mayor of Milner, with backing from the community living there.

He was a fun loving free spirit who loved life and lived it to the fullest. Chris was happiest when communing with Mother Nature in any way possible.  His favorite activities were biking, fishing, skiing, kayaking, swimming, and playing music with friends.  He was an accomplished music lover who predominantly played guitar and piano, but dabbled with almost any instrument.  Chris started flying at the young age of 16 and got his private pilot's license in 1984.  A few of his adventures included climbing Mt. St. Helens, windsurfing from Nevis to St. Kitts, spent the night in Haleakala Crater, paragliding off the Flatirons north of Boulder, and bicycling 900 miles from Denver to Tucson, AZ.

In 1995, Chris met local Steamboat woman Patty Luby, and they spent the next 30 years living a life of love, adventures, and good times in the quiet mountains of Colorado.

Chris and Patty want to thank ALL the staff at the Jan Bishop Cancer Center in Steamboat for their love, support, expertise, kindness, and care.  Please consider a donation in Chris' memory to this important institution that took such good care of him throughout his cancer journey.

Per his request, there will be no celebration of life.  To honor him, please show kindness to strangers in need, and strive to find peace in our country again.
