David R.
Morrison
Jun 22, 1953 — May 8, 2023
David R. Morrison, 69, died on May 8, 2023 in Steamboat Springs, CO. He was born in Shreveport, LA on June 22, 1953 – and as the first child of a military family (Major Joseph R. Morrison and Nancy W. Morrison) he moved around during his childhood years. The family settled back in Shreveport where David graduated from Captain Shreve High School in 1972. He successfully completed a 2-year program at Texas State Technical Institute in Texas. He spent most of his adult life in Houston, TX and Parker, CO until he moved to Steamboat in 2022.
David loved to try new things which introduced him to many career opportunities and hobbies. David was known for his incredible work ethic, as well as his loyalty and commitment to his family and co-workers. He worked mechanical and machine jobs, as an operating room technician, drove an 18-wheeler, worked at a large warehouse facility, and closed out his career as an airport ramp agent in Denver and Colorado Springs.
His hobbies were endless but included music listening (Classical and Celtic music was at the top of the list), recorded musical programs and weekly services for his church, gardening, bike riding, Topgolf with family, tennis (he lettered with his high school team) and bowling, he ran a marathon, snow skied, attended bull riding school, and for a number of years active with model trains and remote-control car racing. In his free time he loved to volunteer including at The Wildlife Experience, Town of Parker parks and gardens, and online work for Africam.com and Explore.org.
He will be remembered for his funny and quirky sense of humor, generosity of his time, love for animals (especially dogs and horses), and passion for giving gifts to his nieces and nephews for Christmas (usually in very large bags!).
He was preceded in death by his parents (Joe and Nancy Morrison). He is survived by his sister Pattie MB Kitchen (Jim) and brother Tom Morrison (Susi). He has numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, and longtime family friends. He was fully embraced by his new community at Casey's Pond in Steamboat (his high fives, side fives, and other antics with his friends at Casey's will be missed by all).
A celebration of life will be held at a later time with family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to Casey's Pond Senior Living, (Staff Donation Fund), 2855 Owl Hoot Trail, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487. Their EIN is 27-1953892 – Colorado Senior Residences. The entire staff at The Doak (Skilled Nursing area) at Casey's Pond were truly amazing with David over his last year, and he made many new friends within the Casey Pond community.
