Dennis Dean Brust was born in Wykoff, Minnesota on March 28, 1941, to Murel and Francis Brust. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Theresa Weimer Brust, daughters Debby Brust, Diane Kimberly Atkins (husband VA) children VA Atkins IV, Cheyenne Atkins. Danelle Watson Keenan (husband Andrew) children Thomas Connor, Maxwell Dennis, and Fiona Skye Watson
When in the 4th grade his family moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado. Dennis was always a great athlete; he was a marble champion in grade school. In junior high and high school, he played baseball, basketball and football. In high school he was chosen by the conference coaches for the All-Conference Titles in football and basketball. He accepted a scholarship to Colorado State University in both Football and basketball. He chose football and played for two years before hurting his shoulder. Through the years Dennis also played Tennis and held a 6 handicap in golf. He was also a sportsman and often went hunting and fishing with great success.
Dennis was one of the original 16 people to start Elanco Products Company. (the agriculture division of Eli Lilly) He was first sent to the Boynton Beach research station in Florida to learn about the new products Treflan and Balan.
He lived in Garland and Lubbock, Texas, Dunwoody, Georgia, Carmel, Indiana near the home office in Indianapolis. He went from salesman to Worldwide Director of Marketing in his 34 years with the company. For retirement he chose Steamboat Springs, Colorado, on his small ranch on the Elk River.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 27, 2025 at the Yampa Valley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Theresa Brust, Momo the Dennis Brust Scholarship Fund in care of Yampa Valley Funeral Home 2105 Taxi Way Steamboat Springs, CO 80487.
