Obituary

Dollie Jane Kline Frentress was born March 13, 1934. She was that Increasingly rare thing, a genuine native of Routt County, born to Anton and Margaret Kline. Dollie would later be joined by two sisters, Clara and Tonee. She graduated from Hayden Union High School in 1952 and attended a year of college in Greeley with the intent of becoming a PE teacher. But a handsome fellow back home won the day, and she married Norman B. Frentress on June 21,1953.  To this union were born four children, Tim, Kimble, Doyle, and Julie. Dollie was a very active member of her community and church. She was active in both Routt and Moffat County Cow Belles now renamed Routt and Moffat County Cattlewomen. As a member of Eastern Star, she served as Grand Matron and eventually was awarded both her fifty- and seventy-year pins. Dollie took her faith life seriously and taught Sunday School for years and served in many capacities; volunteering in any way needed to support her church family. She also was very active for years in her Republican Party activities as well as serving often as an election judge, helping out as a volunteer at the Maybell library, community concert committee, and many other ways to improve her community. She took exercise classes and was an avid walking enthusiast. She did all this while being an accomplished homemaker, mom and grandmother. Dollie had many times turned a very humble house into a warm, cozy and well decorated home. Paint and wallpaper were her friends. She had real enthusiasm for home improvement and never suffered a shortage of ideas, enthusiasm, or elbow grease. Dollie was a great cook, and her family loved the things that came from her kitchen.

Dollie and Norman ranched for many years in both North and West Routt County, eventually moving to Moffat County to continue their ranching careers. Dollie was a companion, helpmate, and partner with Norman for their entire marriage. After Norman passed away, Dollie moved to town and once more threw herself into community activities and keeping up with the grandkids and great grandkids. Most people who met her were impressed with her energy and work ethic. Dollie passed away three days before her 91st birthday, March 10th, 2025. She is survived by her sister Tonee Gingrich, sons Tim (Tena) and Doyle (Paula), her daughter Julie (Gerry) Gerber and her daughter in law Robbie Frentress. Eleven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Anton and Margaret, her husband Norman, sister Clara Roth, and son Kimble.
