Obituary

Donald (Don) R McElhinney passed away November 25, 2017. Don was born May 12, 1936 to Clarence McElhinney and Harriett (Miles) McElhinney in Steamboat Springs, CO at the old Steamboat hospital. Don grew up in Oak Creek and spent holidays and summers at his grandparent's ranch on Morrison Creek.

After graduating from high school, Don went to work for the Mountain Bell Telephone Company which he retired from after 35 years of employment. After his retirement, Don returned to Oak Creek where he and his sister Edna owned/operated The Old Timer's Restaurant for several years. He also was able to enjoy hunting, fishing, gold panning, camping and many other outdoor activities that he loved.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Clarence McElhinney, Harriett (Miles) Nunn, and his sister Edna Hunter. Don is survived by his wife Mariea (Cece) Conner of Phippsburg, his children Donald, Robyn and Aaron all of Grand Junction, 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 2 sisters Pat (Russell) Railsback of Benson, AZ and Betty (Jerald) Koler of Rio Rancho, NM, numerous nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.

Don was loved dearly by his family and he will be greatly missed.

Graveside services will be Thursday November 30, 2017 at 11:00am at the Oak Creek Cemetery.
