Obituary

Jamie June Wells, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Steamboat, Colorado, on December 29, 2024, at the age of 55, surrounded by her loving family.

Jamie's legacy is one of kindness, compassion and strength, and true devotion to the many people she loved.

Born on December 9, 1969, in New York to Valerie Hobbs and the late Richard H. Hobbs Jr., Jamie was raised in Deerfield, Illinois. After graduating from college, she moved to Denver, Colorado, eventually meeting and marrying the love of her life, Colin Ceike Wells. Together they created a beautiful life of shared interests around the outdoors, food, and friendships, joyfully centered around their twin daughters, Grayson and Lillian.

Jamie's kindness, warmth, and unwavering devotion made her the heart of her extended family. Her nurturing spirit was a source of strength and joy to so many, and her presence (and laugh!) brightened every gathering. She was cherished by her siblings, Heather Woodson and Lindsey (Gary) Ledo, as well as by her half-brothers, Jed and Jason Hartigan, sons of Jeff & Diane Hartigan. She was a proud and loving aunt to Bradley (Jo'Lee) Ledo, Courtney (Jacob) Green and their daughter Pippa, and Cole, Luke, and Peyton Woodson.

Jamie had a deep connection to nature and the outdoors. She enjoyed hiking, biking, camping, and travel. She was the consummate cook and entertainer, always posting a favorite phrase in her kitchen: "Love people...cook them tasty food." In her friendships, work, and home life, Jamie embodied love, selflessness, and resilience. Though she has left this world, her love and light lives on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.  She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Jamie's Life will be held on January 25, 2025, at Olympian Hall at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat, Colorado, at 1:00 p.m. Food and drinks will be served.

For those unable to attend, a second gathering will be held on May 22, 2025, when Jamie's ashes will be laid to rest at the family's memorial site in Winnetka, Illinois.
