Janice Boedeker Supal

Janice Boedeker Supal was born on Aug. 1, 1943, in Lockney, TX, to Charlie and Gussie Boedeker. She died on July 28, 2026, at her home in Steamboat Springs, CO, in the shadow of her favorite mountains and surrounded by loved ones.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Supal, as well as brother Terry (Linda); step-son Karl (Itzia) Supal; step-daughters Julie Anderson and Alicia Jaqubino; step-grandchildren Megan and Andrew Jaqubino; brothers- and sisters-in-law Jim and Donna Panasiewicz, Steve and Lora Miller, Clarence Price (deceased) and Connie Supal, and Mark and Mira Supal; nephews Luke (Jessica) Boedeker and Will (Marissa) Boedeker and niece Hannah (Brandon) Lipps. She is also survived by “her greats" - great-nieces and -nephews, who brought her so much joy - and significant friends and chosen family members too numerous to list.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Gussie Boedeker, and her husband Ross Theadore.

Janice was a graduate of Lockney High School class of 1961 and Texas Tech University. She later earned a master's degree in counseling and another in school administration. She began her career as a teacher and found her calling as a high school principal, especially in difficult schools, helping countless young people recognize and pursue their potential. She was named Administrator of the Year in 2004 by the California Continuing Education Association. Dozens of former students credit her influence with turning them toward healthy, productive lives. After retirement, she continued to pour into young people through life skills mentorship via the Steamboat Tennis Association. She loved children and counted thousands as her own during her many years in education.

She and Ross retired to the Yampa Valley in 2009, where they built a rich community of friends prior to his death in 2015. She remained rooted in Steamboat Springs, and lived out a full and vibrant life with Ron, whom she married in 2025.

Jan skied 100 days per year well into her 80s and taught countless friends and loved ones to ski. She loved to play tennis and pickleball, practiced Pilates, and ran a triathlon with Ron in 2024. She loved music and singing, and played the piano and bells at her church.

A lifelong Lutheran, she loved Jesus and generously shared His love with everyone she met, from the grocery store to cancer clinics. She was a gifted encourager and storyteller who always spared a moment to build up someone else, even if it was in the midst of her own struggle.

Jan and Ron lived her last years to the fullest, squeezing the best out of every moment together, throwing back yard parties, traveling, and occasionally dancing all night.

She cherished her younger brother Terry throughout their lives and showered her niece and nephews with love, from planning adventures when they were kids, to folding their spouses and children into the family, usually with a ski lesson.

Jan lived life with her whole heart. She embraced every season with strength, determination, and an unwavering zest for life. She loved deeply and extravagantly. She was a beautiful soul.

Memorials are suggested to Jack’s Place, a cancer caring house, of the Vail Health Network. Burial will take place in the family plot at Plainview Memorial Cemetery, Plainview, TX on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 10:00 am. A memorial service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church in Steamboat Springs, CO, September 19, 2026 at 11:00 am.
