“Maggie” Kirkham Callaway
Aug 23, 1942 — Jan 6, 2026
Maggie Callaway passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026. She was born August 23, 1942, in San Angelo, Texas, and was the daughter of Juanita and Calvin Kirkham.
Maggie devoted her life to caring for others as a registered nurse, beginning her career in a hospital nursery and spending most of her years in pediatrics. She served families in Midland, Corpus Christi, and Beaumont, and dedicated more than 30 years to the Austin Regional Clinic in Austin before retiring.
A longtime Austin resident who later spent her final years near Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Maggie was known for her love of children, animals, and the underdog. Tenderhearted and kind, she could always be counted on for a listening ear and an encouraging word. She also found joy in gardening and spent many happy hours outdoors tending her plants.
She is survived by her son, Paul (Kim) Callaway, and daughter, Karen Callaway; her sister Annita Hinson, and brother Calvin (Jane) Kirkham; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
