Marian "Sam" Marti passed away January 11, 2018 at the age of 71 losing her battle with leukemia.  She was born April 21, 1946 in Cheboygan, MI the daughter of Floyd and Isabelle "Jean" Sampson.  She moved to Steamboat Springs, CO in 1977 where she was a high school teacher at the Steamboat Springs schools until she retired.  She was also active in the community, and served on many committees that were environmentally concerned.

Sam enjoyed life, happily embracing one adventure after another.  She was an avid hunter, expert mushroomer and worldwide traveler.  She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest, encouraging others to do the same.

Sam was preceded in death by her mother Isabelle Sampson.  She is survived by her father, Floyd Sampson of Cheboygan, MI; siblings Margaret (Larry) Blevins of Hampshire, TN; Floyd (Kathleen) Sampson of Tustin, CA;  and Ruth Sampson of Hampshire, TN;  nieces, nephews, great nieces and many loving cousins.  The family would also like to acknowledge her many loyal friends who were also Sam's extended family, and provided great care and support to her.

A celebration of Sam's life will be held at Yampa Valley Funeral Home on Sunday, January 14, 2018 2 pm – 4 pm.   There will be a graveside service at Pine Hill Cemetery in Cheboygan, MI at a later date.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Sam's honor
