Obituary

Mary Dike, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at her home in Steamboat. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion that touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Mary was born to her surviving mother Juanita Evans of Oklahoma. She was then adopted and the only child of two loving parents, Roy and Evelyn Johnson. Mary was raised in California and came on a Spring break ski trip to Colorado where she met Harry. They were married from 1969, until his passing is 2022.

In 1976 Mary and Harry purchased the old A&W Root Beer structure and built the "Burger Express", an adventure and vision they followed for over 20 years. Mary called Steamboat Springs her home for 54 years and loved it. She gathered many friends along the way and cared deeply for all.

Mary was the proud mother of four children, and she dedicated her life to raising her family with unwavering care and compassion. She was known for her nurturing spirit, always putting others first and creating a warm, loving home for her children and grandchild. Her family was the center of her world, and she found deep joy in watching her children and grandchild grow and thrive.

In addition to being a dedicated mother, Mary was a woman of many passions. She had a love for gardening, reading, and cooking, and she was a source of wisdom and support to those around her. Mary's gentle and kind heart made her a cherished friend to many, and she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the way she made others feel loved and valued.

Mary is survived by her four children: Harrison, Dustin, JoDee of Steamboat Springs, and Joseph Dike of Arizona. Her grandson Peyton of Durango and many other family members and friends who will miss her deeply.

A celebration of Mary's life will be at the Bud Werner Library on 13th street and Lincoln Ave. Sunday, April 27th from 11-4. Please come share memories and laughter as we celebrate her beautiful soul.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Routt County Humane Society.

Mary's life was a testament to love, family, and kindness, and she will be forever missed by all who knew her.
