Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Aiton, known for her extraordinary compassion, empathy, and humanity, passed away on June 21, 2022 at the age of 69.  The daughter of William and Barbara Aiton, Peggy was the fifth of six children.

A Colorado native, Peggy spent her formative years in Englewood, Colorado, graduating from Englewood High School in 1970.  However, the draw of the Rocky Mountains was irresistible for Peggy, and she eventually settled in Oak Creek. Soon after, she started a family with her husband Carl, who predeceased her in 1983. Peggy has been a valuable member of the South Routt community for nearly 50 years, primarily in Oak Creek and later Steamboat Springs.

Throughout her life, Peggy had an innate ability to help people through their most difficult times.  She was often a comfort for people in their final days, including serving as a caregiver for her own mother (Barbara) for the last several years of Barbara's life.

Her energy and sense of humor were contagious; she truly was the life of the party.  An amazing self-taught cook, she kept everyone's stomach full and everyone's side splitting with laughter. Often serving as a zealous activity coordinator, including at annual family reunions, she brought joy to every occasion.

Relatively late in life, Peggy found her professional calling.  Utilizing her exceptional ability to give care, she started her own business:  Guardian Angels Companion Services.  Servicing the elderly, infirmed, and incapacitated, Peggy leaves a legacy of hard work and selflessness.

Peggy is survived by sons Jesse and Grant, grandchild Dylan, sisters Winnie and Carol, and brothers Mike and Barry.
