Obituary

August 14th, 1937, Bob was born to his parents Elmer and Helena Lish in Elizabeth New Jersey. After years of living in rental properties his parents finally bought a home on Oakridge Avenue in North Plainfield New Jersey where Bob spent every day with his buddies he met after moving there.

Bob played many sports, but he loved basketball the best. Bob enlisted in the Army right after graduating from North Plainfield High School in 1955. He served in Stuttgart Germany until 1958. Bob learned the trade of lineman there. He was named soldier of the month three times before being honorably discharged in 1958. After returning from Germany, he would be hired by PSE&G where he worked for 35 ½ years. He also joined the Dunellen Ski Club, where he met his wife Valerie, and they were married for almost 60 years together.

Bob's pride and joy was his son Rob who was born on September 6th, 1970. Bob shared his love for skiing with his wife and son. He led the way eventually building a house in Wilmington, Vermont where they skied at Mount Snow. Skiing all over the U.S. for many years eventually they moved to Steamboat Springs in 1995. They wanted to be close to Rob who graduated from college and moved to Steamboat in 1992.

Rob met Katrina Garrett in Steamboat shortly after moving there. They particularly enjoy going to concerts together. Bob's favorite saying was "Forget the band, buy some land."

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and many friends. He is survived by his wife Valerie and son, Rob (Kat), many nieces and nephews on both coasts of the U.S.

He will be sorely missed by everyone he touched and loved. There will be a Celebration of life on November 7th, 2024, open to the public at Old Town Pub from 4-7 p.m.
