Sallie Hall Steketee was born April 13, 1937, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Paul F. Steketee, Jr. and Marian White Steketee. Sallie and her younger brother, Peter, grew up on Reed's Lake and the family shared a deep-rooted love for the outdoors for years.

Sallie attended public schools until she went to boarding school at Emma Willard in Troy, New York, in 1953. She attended the University of Michigan and earned a degree in physical therapy. As a student in Ann Arbor, she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and met her husband- to-be, Fred Spencer Warner, Jr. Soon after her graduation, Sallie married Fred and followed him to U.S. Navy bases in Brooklyn, New York, and Norfolk, Virginia, as Fred fulfilled his commitment as an officer. They eventually moved to California near Redondo Beach, where their daughters Katherine and Susie were born. They later moved back to the Midwest, had a third daughter, Sarah, and settled in Sallie's hometown of Grand Rapids to raise the family.

Sallie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She especially cherished time spent with family in the woods of northern Michigan, or the beaches of Naples, Florida. She could turn any rainy day into a great adventure by collecting the perfect rock or shell. She loved great literature and could always recommend a book to read. She also had a deep appreciation for art; she loved modern design, which inspired Fred's professional career with Herman Miller, Inc.

In Grand Rapids, Sallie enjoyed going to the Westminster Presbyterian church, especially with her father on Sundays. She worked at the church as a volunteer, event organizer and committee member.

Sallie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Fred Spencer Warner, Jr. She is survived by her daughters Katherine Lorenzetti (husband Marco) of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Susie W. Leeson of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Sarah Deeter (husband Kirk) of Steamboat Springs; as well as seven adoring grandchildren: Carlo, Marco Paul, and Lorenzo Lorenzetti; Eliza, Harriet, and Silas Leeson; and Paul Gustavo Deeter. She is also survived by her brother Peter, his wife, Joan, and their family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support the Walk to End Alzheimer's Colorado chapter. With her daughters by her side, Sallie participated in many of these Walks while living in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. #ENDALZ #Walk2EndAlz
