William Foster Long (Bill) passed away suddenly on Nov. 26, 2025 due to complications from surgery. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at UC Health for their excellent care.

Bill was born in Mt. Vernon NY on May 19, 1937. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1959 and Columbia Business School in 1961. He spent several years in San Francisco working for Dean Whitter. He married his wife Pamela Van Rensselaer in May of 1994 in Darien after moving to Connecticut.

He became a father to daughters Schuyler Van Rensselaer Roach and Kate Van Rensselaer Rench who had lost their father. Bill and his wife spent time in Palm City Florida enjoying golf and summers in Steamboat. Pam and Bill moved to Steamboat in 2018 to be close to their daughters and Grand Daughter Elizabeth Roach and his sons-in-law Mike Roach and Craig Rench.

Bill was often seen walking the core trail or riding the SB buses. He enjoyed watching sports especially the Nuggets and the Broncos. Bill devoured books and newspapers and spent many hours at the Steamboat Bud Werner Library.
